Local Bookshops

The Piece Hall

Blackledge, Halifax HX1 1RE, UK – 01422 525200

If you're looking for an unusual or quirky present for someone, this is probably the best place to go. There are a few hundred independent small shops located over two floors selling a large variety of items you probably won't find anywhere else. The building is set around a large courtyard, designed like an Italian piazza, with different activities taking place throughout the year. It has recently been redeveloped and opened again to the public, with a few new additions to the original building, but still in keeping with the design.

A great trip out on a day when a food festival was taking place. Bustling and sociable central area and some interesting and quirky shops on upper levels. Beautifully restored grade I listed building. Try the cartoon shop on the top level if you fancy a laugh or see a bit of whimsy.

Legacy Comics

12 Union St, Halifax HX1 1PR, UK – 01422 363586

If you need ANY comic. This is the guy to go. He knows his stuff, if he hasn't got it he will get it. Top guy.

The owner is very friendly, there's a nuce wide variety of comics. They also sell pop figures, some of them are older pops but overall its a good comic shop

Brames Books

2 Silver Street Room 4 The Old Bank, Halifax HX1 1HS, UK – 07391 051373

Great local bookshop, fantastic for finding vintage books at a reasonable price. The amount of books and topics are unbelievable making it possibly one of the best bookshops in Calderdale and beyond. I would recommend this shop to my friends and family.

A delightful small bookshop with second-hand books on a range of topics including militaria and historical fiction. A hidden gem.
